EasyIT Makes the Fast 50 Award Winner for 2020!
First time Fast 50 awards winner, EasyIT’s CEO and co-founder, Kurt Hoeft was recently congratulated via video chat by the President and Publisher of Columbus Business First, Nick Fortine. Kurt also shares how he started the business with his brother over twenty years ago and how they continue to offer excellent IT solutions today.
How Did It All Start?
Both Kurt and his brother Eric worked in the IT fields. Kurt was in software development configuration, and Eric in project management. However, Eric had started a business of his own while Kurt had been working for a big corporation at the time. Fresh from completing a massive project and faced with a new one that would take even longer (several years), Kurt finally decided to explore a new entrepreneurship opportunity with his brother. That’s when the two brothers decided to join forces and build a company of their own.
Very much in line with the brothers’ differing personalities, Eric is in charge of back-office operations while Kurt handles the business’s customer-facing side. The two brothers have been combining their skillsets to offer premier IT solutions to central Ohio businesses for the past two decades.
How Does EasyIT Serve Its Clients? EasyIT primarily offers managed IT services. We either serve as an external IT department for small to medium-sized businesses or as a part of their IT Department, also called co-sourcing. With the second option, a client still gets to retain an in-house IT person while leveraging our expertise and technology to keep their systems up and running.
What Has Been the Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic On EasyIT? While the past few months have been tough on all of us, we have gained quite a lot of business during the pandemic. That’s because businesses have had to raise the bar for their IT support as they look to adapt to remote work quickly. Organizations whose IT services providers struggled to meet their remote work needs were forced to re-evaluate how they handle their IT functions. And that’s where EasyIT comes in!
To cope with the increased workload, we’ve subdivided our service organization into smaller service groups. This new structure allows groups to focus on and have more intimate knowledge about our clients’ networks. Even recruitment and soliciting have become a challenge due to Covid-19 restrictions.
How Has the Pandemic Impacted Cyber Security? Lately, we’ve had to think about security first whenever we enter an engagement with a new client. Whereas we initially performed a general audit, our focus now is on how secure and recoverable you are. That’s mostly down to the fact that cybercriminals are working extra hard to make money from our clients during this crisis. Throughout the pandemic, there has been a considerable spike in the number of cyberattacks.
What’s Behind EasyIT’s Recent Success?
- We Have a Bigger, Better Team: This has afforded us enough bandwidth to actually apply for awards. Previously, we would’ve been too busy to focus on anything that wasn’t absolutely necessary.
- Greater Emphasis on Customer Service: Stronger management in our customer service department has significantly improved our customer satisfaction levels.
- We’ve Stepped Up Our Marketing Campaigns: By becoming more purposeful in our marketing efforts, we have managed to reach a wider audience and grow our business.
